I've been meaning to ask this for a while and I've might have missed this question being ask but can a forum member become a sponsor? Also would there be any benefit in doing so and would any current members be interested in becoming a sponsor?

Sure. Money talks. Why wouldn't you be welcomed to support the forum. (Edited as to not sound so crass). Not sure that helped. Point being, it would be bad business not to accept anyone as a sponsor. But as a member only, without a connection to a business, I'm not sure it would be as beneficial to you, unless you had some extra income and wasn't interested in a return. The sponsor relationship is a win/win for them and OGR. And more importantly US.
Many sponsors used to be members only.
You can become a Premium Member, that's one way to help the forum.
Supporting the forum sponsors at the top of the page is a good thing.
There was a post earlier today from Alan Arnold (The Ad Man) about Eric's Trains becoming a sponsor. I believe Eric is a forum member and not a business or anything. He does have an excellent website and youtube channel with many how to's, train reviews and layout reports about building his layout. As others have said already, I believe premium membership is a means of forum support also.
Sure. Money talks.
C'mon Marty...that's a pretty crass statement. Do you think that ALL we care about?
Sean, the best way for a forum MEMBER to support the forum is to purchase a Premium Membership.
Might be a good way to sell your trains. Probably be allowed to post your items for sale on the 3-Rail page like any other sponsor.
There are many positive ways to support the forum and...yes...one of them is to be a paying sponsor. Most of the current sponsors are businesses but we have had a fair number of non-business folks ask how to be a sponsor. My advice is...if you are a business and can benefit from what the membership can offer in terms of sales, etc....then by all means, please contact me. I think you will be very pleased with the results! If you are a private individual, I am open to talking to you about a sponsorship but as Rich says above, the best way is to subscribe to our magazine and become a Premium member.
Thanks!
Alan

I'm guessing that I'm entirely missing the point of the original post of this thread. I took it as a "conflict of interest" question. I wouldn't see a conflict of interest in doing that. I'm certain that all financial support is welcome! In what business or operation isn't that the case?
That was going to be my answer......glad it's the same as yours!

Careful...MartyE...years ago when many of us used Mr. Melvin's photo as our Avatar (at least, this is the way I remember it)...because we all wanted to be the singing, publishing, flying, railroading, dapper universal renaissance man that our own Mr. Melvin...not the father...the son...truly is...we were severely chastised and the ruthless avatar policy was spawned. Who knows what could arise from such an unauthorized use of his likeness!
On the contrary, Rich. We have so many forum sponsors now, Premium Memberships should be free.

Personally the big plastic chest suits you.
