Train Cards 1Train Cards 2Hello - I hope I posted this in the correct category. I didn't know where else it would go.

Last Saturday I went to several local garage sales because my wife enjoys them. I have to admit that there are many interesting items we see when we're out. At one sale, I saw these two cards on a small table and bought them because I thought they were cool.

When we got home, I looked all over the 'net to see when they were made and by whom, how big was the set, etc. and found nothing. On the backs of each is a small inscription reading "@ T.C.G. Printed in USA". I had to use a magnifying glass to even see it.

I've posted photos. Does anyone know what they are? Thanks for any insight anyone can provide.

Tom

I found this description of a set of train collector cards on the Worthpoint site: "Set of 62 Topps Gum Train Collector Cards 1955 Album A set of 62 different Topps Chewing Gum collector cards from 1955. These were all part of a series that they did then featuring transportation subjects, one source referred to this as the Rails and Sails series. Each card measures about 3 and 3/4" by 2 and 1/2" or so and has a TCG mark on the back. One side has a railroad related picture, the other has information about the subject plus an additional railroad fact. This lot includes a total of 62 of the cards, by number: 2 - 17, 19, 20, 22 - 24, 26, 28 - 36, 39, 41, 42, 44, 48 - 56, 58 - 60, 62, 64 - 68, 70, 71, 73 - 75, 79, 80, 107, and 119."

No pics on the site but I'm going to guess that T.C.G. stands for Topps Chewing Gum.

Here is the link to the listing. My apologies if any of this violates the forum terms.
