Can't load PS-2 sound files

Has anything changed about your test track?  Describe your test environment?

Hello John,

The programming track is in the same state as it was during several previous file loads.

I use output #2 of a TIU that I isolate from the layout using a DPST switch.

I tried loading the file with my usual Mac (operating on Parallels with Windows 7 Home Premium) and got the error message - this is the machine I used for previous successful loads. I then tried loading files from a PC laptop (again with Windows 7 Home Premium) and got the same error message.

Is this enough info?

I'd try a short section of track tied to the TIU output with all the other outputs disconnected to start.

If you put a working PS/2 engine on the test track, can you start it up and control it?

Yes, I tried another PS-2 engine - it started and functioned normally on the programming track with a solid 10 DCS signal.

I can also start and run the 4-8-4 as a an RS-11 diesel.

When you first start the load, the program tells you the PS-2 memory size.  Is it 1 or 2Meg?  What size is the sound file?  Can't load a larger file into the smaller memory.

If you accept reentry (sometimes multiple times) will it take?  

DO a factory reset on the engine and try again.   G

I tried "Factory Reset" but still get the same error message.

The loader program doesn't get past "searching for engine" - it doesn't seem able to see the engine/PS-2 because the "memory" (which I assume is the PS-2 unit's memory capacity) continues to show "??"

The file size I'm trying to load is 1mb.

I tried connecting my programming track to a different TIU - same  result.

Here is photo of the error message.

Try a Tiu feature reset and start over.

I tried a brand new PS-2 upgrade kit with a spare TIU and the file the file loaded in 3 minutes without a hitch.

I'm happy that the file loaded but I don't know if the problem was with the original TIU (maybe the RS232 connector failed) or with the original PS-2 board.

Did you test the basic operation of the first board?  It should have motion and test tones for whistle/bell even before any sound file is loaded.  It should also have lights and operational smoke outputs.

The first board had a RS-11 diesel file on it and it worked normally, even though it did sound strange coming out of a SP 4-8-4 shell!

So go back with spare tiu and the first PS-2 board.  I assume it would work now.  G
