You could try the Menards "Contact Us" page and ask if there is a way to order by phone.  The stores themselves usually only carry the train stuff in store around the holidays (Nov.-Dec.).

I have done almost all my ordering from them online and have had no problems.  A word of caution, though -- they often offer rebates, but the rebates are redeemable only in-person in-store.  I usually wait until they offer freebies before ordering.

Andy,

A slight correction.  The stores themselves usually only display the train stuff prominently in-store around the holidays (Nov.-Dec.).  Afterward many of them have carryover stock, that unfortunately dwindles through the year after the holidays without being replaced, but do not put it out on obvious display.

For those that have a store within driving distance the next time you visit take one of the stairways in the middle of the building up to the mezzanine level.  This is where the off-season items, like train stuff, are placed when not during their prime selling season.  You can make your selection from there.

Last year was the first time I had ever been upstairs.  I am often looking at the displays around Christmas, but with the cost of Christmas, I have to wait until January to purchase.  Discovering that I can look upstairs has made a huge difference!  Besides, you never know when you may need a piece of track for one reason or another.

No. This question has been asked a thousand times. And it has been explained a thousand times.

Menards is not a train store. It is a major home improvement company that conducts most of its business through its retail stores. The train line is a sideline created by John Menard, not as a huge profit center for the company. The company said in forum posts that the line is supported by a small group of enthusiasts, and that the intention is that the train line doesn’t interfere with Menards’ normal business operations.

Tell me something. Does anybody on this forum order products from Walmart or Target by phone? No. Get it?

If you guys receive these rebates and can't use them send them to me and I will buy items for the Roanoke Valley Model Railroad Club  or the Virginia Museum of Transportation with them. I get to a Menards every few months so I can use them for the club or museum. It sure beats throwing them away.

Since I'm prohibited from ordering via the Menard's website (don't ask me why, but I can't and Menard's doesn't respond to why I can't), I call my nearest Menard's (Williston ND) and place my order through their "Order Pick-up and Delivery" phone number and never had a problem - so far. You can find that department's number by clicking the downward pointing arrow next to the store location shown just to the left of "Delivering to" and clicking on "My Store's details (at least that works for me. Williston is about 600 miles from us here in Spokane.
