A friend of a friend has asked me to help her identify this Southern diesel. I guess it's O gauge but I'm not sure; nor do I know who made it. She wants to buy one for a ceiling layout that she might build.

It is an MTH unit. It has a Proto-Coupler on the front, the rear dummy coupler is a half-thickness version (from a few years ago), and it has a tether receptacle below the dummy coupler. Also, the cab number corresponds to this particular set http://www.mthtrains.com/content/20-2397-1.

Yes MTH, Weaver has large molded "eye brows" over windshields.
