I know that the Orange hall has the major manufacturers and bigger commercial interests. I have spent the bulk of my time there but feel as though I may be missing something.

Last year I went into a hall filled with long tables and populated by private individuals selling/trading etc. I had a blast there. Was this the purple hall?

Can somebody give me a one or two word description of what to expect in each hall?

Thanks!!!!!

You were most likely in the Blue or Silver Halls. These share a common entrance.  These are two of the member halls and have a Hodge podge of train related stuff.  The Commercial dealers are located in the Orange Hall (largest) Brown Hall (poor lighting) and the Purple Hall.  There are three other halls, Black, Red and White.  These are also member hall if they are being used.

Blue, Silver, Red and White Halls: Members selling personal items.  Ranging from pre-war Lionel to recent production and railroadiana items owned and sold by members.

Orange, Brown and Purple Halls: Dealers, major importers and smaller businesses.  Mostly recent production trains and accessories.  You will see a scattering of older trains and accessories.

I try to get through all the halls to see everything.  You never know what you might find!

Blue, Silver, White, and Red halls are primarily members selling.  A mix of Post War, and modern.  Not really the latest and greatest modern but probably beyond 5 years and older.  Sometimes though you find something newer so it never hurts to go in them if you are looking for something.

Black, Brown, and Orange are primarily vendor who have store fronts and are truly in it for business.  Manufacturers are setup in the Orange hall.  While they don't sell, they do show off the latest and greatest.  Some will do seminars or demonstrations.
