I have a remote and rev. L TIU. I had the remote empty and was trying to add an engine. Tried 4 different Ps2 engines that work flawlessly in conventional mode. I get the “no engine to add!” every time I try to add them. I would like to know what’s wrong, if it’s a bad TIU or remote or both mainly.

Things I’ve done:

-checked all wiring and cleaned track

-using small test track just for resting

-have ample power (18v) applied to track

-reset remote and tiu

-updated both to latest software (6.10) and reset both again

-rest all engines in conventional mode

-changed batteries of all engines

-new batteries in remote

I’m hoping the remote isn’t bad or can at least be repaired if it is. I prefer the remote over the new app and I understand the remotes are no longer being made or at least they will be very soon. Anyone have any other suggestions as to what I could try.

Thanks in advance

Is the TIU power light on?

What is your power supply? How are you powering the TIU? Are you using fixed #1 for the test track?

Have you tried using a different TIU channel with the TIU powered with the Aux power in?

Have you tethered the remote using a 4 wire handset cord?

How many blinks does the TIU do at power up? Did you add that TIU address to the remote?

Is your wiring polarity correct?

Do the engines pass a battery power test?

Can you take or ship each component to a Tech for testing?

So forgot to mention a few things.

-only one engine on track at a time when testing

-polarity is correct

-using fixed in 1 and z4000 to power tiu/track

-can hear relay click in engine when powering up track

-TIU power light is on

-TIU is set so address 1 and 1 blink on power up

I have not tired a different TIU channel yet or the hardest cord. I will try later and report back
