I know we have Weekend Photo Fun, Front End Friday, Switcher Saturday, Box car Sunday, etc., but I thought it would be good to have a topic dedicated to showing railroad equipment painted to celebrate the 4th of July.  Lets see some of your red, white, and blue fleet.

It was July 4th, 1976, and the photographer heard that BN 1776, one of three engines the BN painted for the Bicentennial, was passing through town.  She quickly grabbed her video camera and headed out to the mainline near her studio.  She caught BN 1776 just as it was getting ready to leave the yard when she was surprised by a real treat.

She quickly got into her car and chased the AFT until she was able to get another video.

Wishing you a safe and happy 4th of July weekend.

Happy Independence Day!

I'd also like to share a family tradition with my forum friends:

Every year, right before the fireworks, my family sits in the dark on the shore of a lake and lists to the great storyteller Jean Shepherd (the guy who wrote "A Christmas Story"). Jean tells us about his family's firework stand, celebrating the 4th of July during the Depression, and the town drunk who went down in folk-lore history for his actions one glorious 4th. I hope you enjoy!

All the best,
Bryce
