Greetings Everyone,

Just received my NIB TMCC Pennsy Sharknose diesels.  One of the A units has no sound.  I am running a 990 Legacy set-up and I did a Re-Set after which the headlight started flashing after I put it back in "Run".    I tried a "Custom" set-up as well because there are no modules for TMCC.  Further, the headlight will not illuminate while moving forward.  I understand these are programmed from the factory as a "Lash-Up" which is the reason I decided to re-set each one separately to hopefully find the problem.  The other "A" works as it should.  Is it me or is there a problem with the "A" unit.   Any help will be appreciated.

Did you put them both on the track with the run/program switches in the program mode?   After you set your engine number, you must reprogram the R2LC.  Remember, this is an old engine and most likely lost it's set up program.  I will list what you need to do.

Set program switch to program.  Press your engine number then press set.  Press engine number again then press AUX-1 then the number 8 on your keypad.  Set switch back to run and you should be good to go.

Hi Marty,

First, thank you for taking the time to reply.  That being said, I will follow your instructions and I'll let you know what shakes out.   I snagged these on your favorite auction site for a song.   They were described as "new" and I have to tell ya, they looked like they were never run.  I have already contacted the seller and he has agree to refund my full purchase price upon their return.  So, if  the fix doesn't work, all I'll have lost is the shipping cost.  Thank you again for your guidance my friend.

Hi Marty,

So, I followed your instructions to a "T" and Zip, Zero, Nada.  I went back and did it a second time and No Deal.  I am absolutely no expert by any stretch of the imagination but I really don't feel like messing around with this engine.  The dude said he'd take it back and fully refund my purchase price so I'm gonna print a shipping label and the set is going to the Post Office in the morning.  Please don't think that I do not appreciate your help, because I do.  However, the set I got at York works perfectly and I really don't need another set of Sharks.  On the surface it was a great deal but we all know how those end up working out.  Again, thanks for your help!

That's too bad. This is an amazing set, and the separate sound units in each cab make them a notch better than their Legacy counterparts...

Sounds like something simple. I have had and R2 board fall off in shipping... noted that I could not program it when received. Opened up the shell and snapped the board in, and I was good to go...

If there was no chance of returning these, I would take a look inside.  But, like I said, I have another set that I got at York and they run beautifully and the sound is awesome.  I just couldn't pass these up because of the price.

It could be a board has become loose after shipping.  If the reprogramming did not work, I would pop the shell off and re-seat the boards.  I have the same set and they work well.  I believe its 6 screws underneath.  Very easy loco to work on.
