Who doesn't want to run more trains?

I had the set that started me on this hobby sitting to the side, on a stretch of track, basically on display.I have sooo much extra track, but no more room available.... Unless... Now this is just a test setup. I can't go wider than O31. Lionel O27 was too tight (to run slow), so I expect Atlas O27 will be the same. I will build a nice raised base, if i keep it. It runs over the tree base. I even lit the caboose with a votive candle.

Soooooooo....... Is it over the top?

Note, I will stick my tounge out, if you say it's already over the top.

The only Christmas layout I ever thought might have gone to far was in PA north of Tunkhannock. The fellow took up both living and dining rooms, with a hole cut in the wall between them for a tunnel. A bookcase hid the hole in the wall between Holiday Seasons. I'll look and see if I still have photos. Was from the 1980's.

You need a henning's tree for next year and use up the rest of the space, as others have mentioned. You could also get at least on mainline around the perimeter of the room.

You haven't gone to far yet!

I am sure everyone enjoyed the train setup and will always remember your trains! Look at what happens when we let you have the remote

Thanks folks.

My wife actually bought the brown footrest, last year, to stake out more space. Also, once upon a time, there was a hutch on the left. When my wife wanted it moved, I wasn't expecting it to be replaced with the 2 units (I covet THAT space. I could get another loop, if that was in play). I can't complain though, she has supported each expansion. She made the hills. She sets up the village.

The empty space, where the new loop extends, was to leave the dog a path to the window. As long as I dont leave trains stopped under the window, it's worked out well. I think she will step through this track. We just don't want her thinking the easier path is through the farm, on the right.

As to expanding..... I can't have more floor space. I think a double raised loop in front of the fireplace will block too much, so I might be done. As to all year... We used to start Thanksgiving weekend and break it down on or before little Christmas. Lately it's been making late January and one year early Feb, because family was coming in to see it. I'm close to getting a room, but it will be effectively smaller, than this space.

I wish I could find 2006 - 2008. 06 and 07 was the original loco with 3 cars on 027. 08 was the year it was replaced by an MTH set and Realtrax.

Your planning around the pooch is brilliant.  Not to mention your navigating around the family.  Have you ever considered a career in diplomacy?  A man with your talent should be resolving conflicts on a global scale.  The hound probably wouldn't mind if you left it up till St. Patty's day this year.  He seems amenable to the program.  Cheers!

It really worked. She has to greet the window. Her bed is in the room. before this year, we had gated the room and kept her out. The path was blocked, in previous years and she would run right through it.

LOTUS Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious

The door to the kitchen is next to the chair. If I block that door, your definition of LOTUS will prevail. Can't do it. The other access to the room gets blocked by the couch.

Space. The garage won't work, or at least I haven't put in the effort to make it work. No basement. I do have a small n scale setup that hangs from and is returned to the ceiling, in one room. We are considering running a loop around the perimeter of the office/guest/no you can't have it now!Marty room. Sept 2016, is probably when I can get a permanent room. The oldest will have finished college and started her Naval service (So I am pretty certain, she won't move back in). The other 2 will be in college. That should free up a bedroom and I shouldn't have too many start up expenses, beyond building the benches, to start.

And yes. The room I get won't have this much usable space, even if I just want to stand in the corner alone, with the controls.

Looks Good Marty.

Putting it on a board will make it stay neat at the edge and that helps keep other family members happy. If you raise it up a bit you can tuck presents under as well.

Now, when you get the new room, Be sure to make a drop gate for the door and go around the walls, You get a lot more track area that way.
