These buildings are card stock kits by Gary Johnson, and they are easy to assemble. Gary sells the kits on eBay and they are inexpensive.

My layout has about 30 scratch built buildings all hand painted and made of artists illustration board, poster board and basswood. I also have about 15 cardstock building fronts. While the look is realistic, you have to be careful to brace the structures/fronts well as they are prone to warping in high humidity and basement environments.
Dennis - I am lucky I dont have a high humidity issue here, but even so I put everything on Foam core. I am working 95% on flats that pop out 1-1.5 inches and all have LED lighting in them. I could tell even stiff card stock like the stuff used for framing mattes would still be vulnerable to warpage.
