Cloning different Rev TIUs

I may be wrong, but I thought the cloning was for remotes and that nothing in the TIUs needs cloning/saving apart from the remotes.

I have cloned my 3 remotes, although I have 2 different Rev TIUs on my layout.

I suggest moving the current TIU to #2 before connecting the second, to avoid having 2 TIU #1's briefly.  In the past, I have had problems in this area.  The new TIU will always come up as #1 when first powered up.  If you use Super TIU, it wouldn't matter what was in each TIU---I think.

Most all the engines and tracks setup were done on channel 1 of TIU 1 and I want those entries transfered to the new TIU, which I set up outside the layout and then move to the layout, unless those tables are just in the remotes ... isn't the supermode to make the other TIUs see engines added to the first one?

Doing a reset on them for a clean start will wipe out what is there and I really want to avoid having to re-add all those locomotives!

And the three remotes associated with it can remain the same that way ... I think.

First, you cannot copy data from one TIU to another. When you retire a TIU, you lose whatever CustomSounds and Record/Playback sessions it contains.

Second, when you renumber a TIU, all of the relationships it has with AIUs and with data in the remote, stay with that TIU. Engines added to a TIU when it was #1 are still associated with it after it becomes #2. Ditto for connected AIUs.

Are there any pitfalls to avoid doing this change-over?

I'm going to make the new one #1 after changing the current #1 to #2.

Do I need to have the three remotes "associate themselves" with the new TIU or will they still know #1 and #2 as these are the current id's?

After you use the first remote to change TIU #1 to TIU #2 and add TIU #1, add TIU #2 to each of your remaining remotes.

No, you would not have to do anything at all.
