Close coupleling early F units | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

The early F units from Lionel seem to be too far apart between units

what is the easiest way to bring them closer together? Who makes a short shank coupler that could almost be a drop in for the dummy couplers that lionel uses?

I'mnot looking to using scale Kadee's

Some use the MTH dummy coupler as it is very short and brings the units together nicely.

Are the MTH couplers a direct replacement? Are they diecast or plastic?

Also so can't seem to find them on the MTH site, any help appreciated.

David, the problem is finding a drop in replacement. I have tried Lionel dummy couplers as well 1 1/2" electro couplers but both would require serious modification to mount them. Thats why I settled on Kadees. I would have been fine with big knuckles but it would have been more involved to modify them then mount Kadees.
