Well I was looking for a coal tower to go over my two main lines on the layout. I wanted one like you would see on the pennsylvania railroad on Norfolk and western railroad. I couldn't find a kit for what I wanted. Well then in my work shop I spotted it my new coal tower. There was A funnel sitting on a bucket. It was just about the right sizes I was looking for. So brought it down to the layout sat it there looked it over the bucket was little to small. I looked around and found a pretzel bucket we were using for donations. It Was just Wright. So I cut the bucket up to fit then cut funnel out at top to build building structure up top for coal elevator. Then I had to finger out what I was going to use for the bottom base. Took 3/4 plywood and got an old tunnel portal and traced out openings for the trains. Now it was looking like some of the pictures I was looking at. Well I wrapped the pretzel bucket with one inch masking tape at deferment thickness right above each other to look like pored concrete. The plywood base I brushed plaster on with paint brush to look like concrete. Then painted it with woodland scenic concrete paint. Then I had to build calling elevator to fill tower made it out of 1/4 wood and wrapped it in masking tape as well. Now still working on the details. Will show them as I go along.
Then built a foundation and coal pit for elevator and conveyor.
still working on details.
