I own several Atlas and Weaver two-rail TMCC engines.  They’ve stayed in their boxes since I bought them and I’d like to run them.   I’d like to change them from TMCC to DCC.  Is it enough to remove the TMCC electronics and boards, or must I remotor them as well?

I look forward to reading about the experiences of other modelers who have had this issue and successfully converted their locomotives to DCC.

No, they shouldn’t need to be repowered ( or remotored as you put it )  In 99.9% of the 2 rail O scale locomotives you’ll encounter, they will already be DC motors. The only exception may be an ancient 700E that was converted to full 2 rail operation that didn’t get a motor swap. Your Atlas & Weaver locomotives are DC powered, ….they never even offered an AC motor …..the only engines you may want to look at a little closer would be any Weavers with the horrible gear boxes, & amp hungry motors.
