From the early 60s I believe when Rege Cordic was "On the Air"!

Marty, that would be cool to model, particularly if you have some history in this area of the country.
This is probably the closet match from Western Hobby Craft...
Wow, Rege Cordic! I think he had a TV program where he introduced movies? Was that on KDKA or WTAE?
Nice shot, Marty. Thanks for posting.
George
I believe the TV show was on WTAE.
I don't think Rege Cordic had a TV show in Pittsburgh. It sounds like you're talking about Bill Cardille who had a show called Chiller Theater in which he introduced movies, especially Horror movies.
Bill
Rege Cordic did have a TV show on WTAE - it was on weekend afternoons (I don't remember if it was Saturday or Sunday, or both) and he introduced movies. I remember watching him as a kid, and I didn't know anything about his radio career until much later.
I miss Chiller Theater. "Chilly" Bill Cardille got me started in my science fiction and horror genre fandom, and I have fond memories of being allowed to stay up late watching Chiller Theater with the grandfather who gave me my first train.

Rege did have a show...The Sunday Afternoon Movie. He just did the intro and cut ins.

As a patron of those long-gone trolleys, let me add that if you want to model it well you need hot sweaty people inside!

Then I guess it is a good thing trolleys don't smoke. I don't think that "Hot Sweaty People" would be a good seller for Mega-Steam (or anyone else, for that matter).

Uh, yeah. I don't foresee the smoke liquid makers falling all over themselves to make that particular scent, do you?
What would be next "Ode de Pepe Le Pew"?
George
Rege Cordic was huge in Pittsburgh radio on KDKA back in the day, he left the Burgh for LA to replace Bob Crane who also was a huge radio personality like Cordic . Bob Crane went on to became the star of Hogans Heros and Redge Cordics radio career flopped in LA. So the story goes.
I believe Rege came on after "Paul Shannon's Adventure Time"
What childhood treasures we had.
Paul Shannon seen here with the 3 Stooges!'
Noted columnist and film critic Harold V. Cohen introduced movies on KDKA (I think) in the late 50's and early 60's.
Rege Cordic,Hank Stohl, and Johnny Costa were absolutely crazy.
Norm
That sure is one cool looking trolley!
Since we can't get a model of that trolley, I guess we will have to content ourselves with another Cordic-connected product: the Olde Frothingslosh stuff MTH has done over the years.
They also did a tinplate reefer and a Premier 36' reefer that came in sets.
Fun cars!

I stand corrected. I could try to use the excuse that I’m not old enough to remember seeing Rege on TV but at my age that excuse won’t work!
Thanks Andy, Marty & George.
Bill
I am old enough to know believe me Rege Cordic did have A show in the BurG also that shot of Chilly Billy brings back memories of my friend little stevey the prankster.

Sorry, I know this is off the original topic, but this post made me smile to think what reaction it might get if a smoke unit(a la the MTH smoking tank cars of various roadnames) was built into a Pepe Le Pew "Fragrance of Love" tank car. If the car wasn't sort of scarce, I'd consider it worth a laugh to do it.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled Pittsburgh Trolley thread.....

Returning it to a Pittsburgh Trolley thread, maybe a Pepe Le Pew scent would be appropriate for an up-to-date version of this Pittsburgh streetcar based on the way they are playing so far this season (and I’m a long-time Pittsburgh fan not that one Ravens fan on this Forum).
And the odor from the Steelers lack of offense must have blown a few blocks over to PNC Park as the Pirates can’t seem to get many hits let alone runs during this important time of the season. I guess they’re not used to meaningful games in September!
Bill
That's Paul Shannon in the picture to the right of the Three stoogies. The name of his TV show was adventure time. In September in 1960 on my 14th birthday my mother and father took me to the Holiday House in Monroeville. Larry of the Three Stoogies was sitting at the table just to our left. I was able to get his autograph. I remember telling him that I watch the Paul Shannon show everyday after school.
Since we're talking Pittsburgh, and since MTH has done this sort of thing before, why not send a copy of that photo to MTH (with history) and see if this could be another special run?
Hey, it fits with the rest of the cars, right?
Jim,
I was at that same show at the Holiday House !

Rege Cordic was also a model railroader who did some clever cartoons for the NMRA Bulletin in the 1970's. Occasionally he had layout photos in Model Railroader magazine.
A friend (recently deceased) has this prewar Lionel car overlaid with NMRA cardboard car sides that were made for a while as an annual feature in the NMRA Bulletin. One year they did car-sides based on Rege Cordic's Frothingslosh gag.
While that is a very neat trolley posted by MartyE, my memories are predominantly of the PCCs in that red and cream PAT color scheme. I remember them vividly in the 60s being all over "downtahn" Pittsburgh.
George
By the way, Rege Cordic had a small part (might have been his last movie appearance) in a George C. Scott film called "The Formula". I think the movie came out in the mid-1970s.
George
Well then George...
Enjoy this webpage! CLICK HERE! Courtesy of "The Brookline Connection". Make sure you click around the various links for the Pittsburgh and Castle Shannon RR Line. This website is pretty awesome.

As I read through this thread, I was waiting to see if someone noted that Rege Cordic was a model railroader. I read an article about his modeling in one of the magazines years ago. I remember listening to him on KDKA radio while eating breakfast before school. I also saw him host the movies while in Los Angeles. The Trolley photos are very nice. I was not aware of the Cordic and Company trolley however.

OK, Pittsburgh fans. Name the puppet on the left!
(Hint: No, it's not Scott Hartnell although I think they were twins separated at birth! )
George
