I am recently getting back into the hobby after a hiatus.  I have always been more into the "Toy" aspect of trains than scale modeling so Tinplate appealed to me, but I find it a little more difficult to grok because of the variety of size/scale, manufacturers, etc.

For instance, there are several different types of couplers and I have tried to find a taxonomy of them through searching the forum/internet.  I recently got a nice Marx engine that was restored and it had some type of slot coupler I had never seen before.  I was able to fashion a crude adapter to some Lionel passenger cars with a section of a paper clip, but I wanted to see if there are coupler adapters or other methods to lash up cars with different coupler types.
