I use to shop at a train/doll store in an old house just off the Interstate outside of Greensboro. The shop was run by a guy named Rick with his mom and dad. All three of them passed away rather quickly. Up to a year after Rick's parents died I could call Rick up and he would still sell me things in the store. He told me on my last visit--the basement is full of trains as well as two more buildings out back. I offered to sponsor him in the TCA so he could join and blow out a lot of his inventory at York or even help him get things listed on line but nothing ever came of that.
I drove by the building a few weeks ago and the grass has overgrown. It looks as if he locked the door and never returned. Does anyone know what happened to the inventory? Is it still there locked up?

As you and Roger Whitsett probably know Scott, Rick had a "buy one get one free" sale that lasted well over a year. Although he did not sell online he told me that he enjoyed a healthy out-of-state telephone trade. Rick always offered a 10% discount from list, more if volume was involved.

My last purchase from him was the B&O EM-1 that was a longtime resident in the glass case across from the billing desk. Rick and his parents routinely attended the NY Toy Fair for over 30 years. I first bought model cars and some large scale from them when they were located in the old two-story house on the southside of I-85.

When Rick parted company with MTH I began to buy trains from a new store called The Train Loft. Don't know what happend.....I visited GSO Electric Trains infrequently for scenery and small item purchases but never got to know the folks well.
