I found a replacement camera from China for $17 but you had to wait until mid-March for it to arrive. So instead I grabbed this one from Amazon:

It was the same footprint as the Lionel board and all I had to do was solder the existing power leads in from the caboose. The advantages of the Amazon camera is that it has a battery so the WIFI doesn't interrupt when passing over a dead spot or momentarily turning off the layout. Also, it has a microphone and you can hear click clack and loco sounds because I removed the blurry window allowing the sound in. This board has an SD card slot but I am not sure how that would be helpful here. The biggest advantage is $41 instead of $120 for the Lionel replacement. Hopefully this is helpful for anyone else that accidently shreds their cable taking the shell off.
