There is pretty much zero profit in this kind of stuff.  My decal guy took the last train west, and his business is now run by La Belle.  I am having him do some tank car decals - I expect it to take six months.  I will send him maybe $25.  

I gotta tell you, $25 would hardly get me off the couch.

I don't think $25 buys a six pack of Sierra Nevada beer any more.  Amtrak wanted $7 per bottle.

If you charge TRUE cost no one wants to pay.....which is what happened to me. 

I went from doing it as a hobby with reasonable charges to charging true cost AND a small profit. That stopped it all pretty fast. I still do my own stuff and I do the artwork for a few model car companies......but custom work is no more.

Why would you go to Amtrak to buy beer anyway?

Good question! Fly to the Chicago area and purchase two 6 packs for under $25.

Better yet, Bob is in San Diego - Go over to the Yardhouse and get a beer at the bar,
