Has anyone had a CW-80 transformer crap out right out of the box? A brand new train set on display for the public and the transformer quits. I got about 15 min max out of it before the green light started flashing. Now it flashes without any wiring attached to it. The hobby shop it came from does not have new CW-80 transformers in stock to trade it out. What is next in line to try??? Lionel directly ?? This might be a joke to expect a new one from Lionel before the snow melts! Have any of you had this same thing happen with this transformer?? There are thousands  of hits on the web about this problem. Do you think Lionel will resolve the problem??

These units are not expensive enough to warrant the labour costs to repair them, so replacement is a sensible standard procedure. At least you don't have to pay to ship the entire (heavy) unit back to Lionel?

I had a CW-80 in a set that was DOA. Lionel shipped out a replacement as soon as they received the cord and handle back. You shouldn't have to wait too long.
