Does any one know if you can use a Mac. to connect to a DCS for changing sounds, and up grade the software?

You will have to use a Windows emulator like Parallels or VMWARE, the upgrade software doesn't run on the Mac in native mode.
You don't need to buy Parallels or Fusion; Apple's BootCamp allows you to create a Windows partition on your hard drive and boot from that.
With any solution you need a copy of Windows to install on your Mac.
There have been many complaints about Bootcamp and the Legacy LSU, so I tend not to recommend it. Perhaps it works for the DCS utility?

It's been while since I've run Boot Camp. At the time, it ran well with Loader 2.20 and Windows 95. However, I've actually never run Lionel's LSU under Windows on the Mac.
Regardless, the subject was running the Loader on a Mac and it most certainly ran fine under Boot Camp, as well as Parallels and VMWare's Fusion, for me.
Windows 95? Barry, come in to the 21st Century!

Windows 95?
At the time, that was the only Windows that could be run under Boot Camp. Further, although I run Win 7 on my PC that's connected permanently to the layout, I run Win 95 on my Mac under Parallels for iwo reasons.
One, I own a license. Two, it's virtually bulletproof for my needs, which are mainly MTH trains..
