DCS not reading engines

Classically, this is signal strength issues on the layout.  It probably depends on exactly where they're parked on the layout.

OK, is there a way to increase signal strength? While I talk about signals, does DCS take all it's signals via the track; TMCC takes it via the air waves. Correct? If DCS takes it off the track, then cleaning the track might help signal strength. Sorry for my poor knowledge of this stuff.

DCS track signals are strictly conveyed by the tracks.  Yes, clean track and wheels/pickups are key in having good signal strength, especially for DCS.  The wiring style of the layout is also a major factor, DCS works better with a STAR wiring scheme, TMCC/Legacy will work with any wiring scheme as a rule.

OK got it. Since I have all my power to the tracks via buss or via toggle switches, it sounds like I will have to figure out a way of incorporating this star pattern into the mix. I'll have to investigate that. Thanks.

I have sort of a combination of the two.  I actually never got around to doing the cuts in the track to isolate the individual feeds, but I've had no DCS issues, so I put that on the back burner.  I did a signal test around the mainline the other day, and I got 10's everywhere except over some switches, most notably the double-slip switches.  Given that result, I have many other fish to fry before I start tinkering with the track.

OK, maybe I'd better cool it for now. I haven't done a test in a while, but at one point I was getting about 9. I'll have to do that again too. Thanks.
