Last year I bought a DCS Remote Commander. I thought it would be a simple yet versatile way of controlling my PS2 DCS engines on a carpet layout for me and my grand kids. Initially I could not get it to work at all. With the help of this forum realized I needed to do a full-up DCS Factory Reset on the engines. I have now done that.
The problem I have now is the engines are VERY intermittent in responding to commands from the remote (DCS Remote Commander). The engines will respond but I usually have to push a button 3 or 4 times or more before I get the appropriate response. The problem seems to affect all of the buttons but the DIR change button is the most frustrating because of its importance. I put new batteries into the remote and the engines have new batteries as well. I am using a Z-500 transformer.
To try to isolate the remote problem I connected the track in a conventional mode and the engine responses work fine using a MRC Pure Power transformer. I also loaded an engine back into the full DCS and it continued to operate beautifully and then performed another Factory Reset. But still had the same problem with the DCS Remote Commander. Both full-up DCS and conventional operation work fine.
I didn't pay a lot for the DCS Remote Commander so it is no huge loss but the frustration level is annoying.
Any ideas before I put it away for good? I might be a customer for the new DCS Explorer when it is PROVEN!
