Hello all,

I've been taking the time to update my  TIUs, mainly in preparation for sound file changes. The first two of three updated with no issues, but the third one has been causing me trouble. Halfway through updating, my PC seemingly lost the TIU through the serial connection. The update didn't finish as the program terminated the process. Attempting to restart the update, the DCS loader program couldn't find it, even after power cycling, unplugging, etc.
The DCS still outputs a watchdog signal, as my older PS2 engines gave the signature clicks of life. However, they can't be found on the remote when attempting to add them. Pre-existing locomotives on the remote also no longer respond to commands from the remote either.
The remote does work fine when paired with one of the other TIUs.
Using the remote, even plugged in with a phone tether, the TIU seems to send no data. Asking the remote for the TIU version nets me an error message.

In short, is the TIU essentially dead/ "bricked"? If it is, is there any workaround to fix this?

You may have bricked it- definitely interrupting a firmware update is a bad, bad, bad thing.

The audio cable plugged into both jacks it what causes the TIU to switch to bootloader mode to allow programming firmware.

One trick is to try unplugging and plugging in that jack, right when you are first trying to update the firmware to get the loader program to find and see the TIU. Again the idea is, to force the bootloader state rapidly, in hopes of catching it to begin the firmware loading process.
