Here are photos of our Delaware Railfan trip today. Notice the AEM-7s and F40PH locomotives in storage in Bear DE. Also note the Amtrak Exhibit Train at 30th street station. Sorry for the brush in the photos, There was not a lot of space to work with!

Nice ! Where do you guys find out about these trips ? I never seem to be in the right place at the right time.
We just drive around the Delaware and find "Points of Interest" that we explore. We just found the AEM-7s locations today!
I didn’t think the AEM7’s were still around. And the F40’s. I thought they were cut up already. Those date back to the 1970’s/1980’s.
Not to be a Dennis downer. There's a lot of wasted TAX dollars rusting away. These "machines" could have lasted a longer with "GOOD" maintenance. JMHO Thanks for sharing. BTW I pass this area frequently, nice eye candy...Lol
I’m just curious, but does anyone know why they are keeping these Units? We also saw a couple HHP8s at Wilmington and they looked as if they were being worked on. Are they being rebuilt?
For anyone who might be curious, the Aem7s can be found by driving to bonarva ct in Bear DE. Just hike up the trail that can be found at you will find a nice little walking path that runs parallel to the NEC and the shops.
Ok so I know I haven’t updated here in a while, but today I saw something strange. I was driving back from NJ today and saw an Amtrak HHP-8 with a new 900 series number pulling 1 Amfleet car heading southbound. I’m curious to know what is happening with the unit and why it was on the NEC. I could not identify the number on it. As many of you may know, it was thought these locomotives were retired.
Edit - I have been doing research and was wondering if anyone knows of Amtrak rebuilt an HHP8 and this was a test train? These locomotives had so much potential and ended up with many problems that it wouldn’t be surprising if they were rebuilt due to their low Milage and short time in service.
