The 235 scout is a hard # to find!

Based on several listed on eBay in the past few months, that seems no longer to be the case.  One sold yesterday for $86, with the seller claiming it was super rare! (his punctuation).  May be the purported estates of the oldest collectors hitting the market.

What, me worry?

The 235 is on the rare side for a collector, as it was "Uncatalogued" issued only in 1961 in set #X-648.  The initial order was for 3300, but 100 got swapped out with a 2018, so there are only 3200 ever made with the 235 loco.

The one mentioned went unclaimed with a BIN asking price of $249 before going to auction.  I know the price guides rated the 235's in the rare category, found them to be elusive myself in the old days and even watched one bid up to $600-$700 on eBay 10-15 years ago.

A C-7 235 went for $67 at auction in January, and a C-6 offered with a Minuteman car and caboose for $200 in February and March went unclaimed.  A C-8 went unclaimed at $485 earlier this month,  Maybe the last seller was the guy who paid $600-$700.
