Greetings to all. I have for years displayed a postwar engine and tender with a gondola inside a clear (Lucite?) case
roughly 30 in. long. As we are preparing to move, I wanted to remove the train and pack it up. The whole front of
the case is supposed to slide open for access, however I can't slide it open more than a few inches because it binds
up in the channels. Is there any way I can free it up without damaging the finish of the case? Thanks for any and
all suggestions!

You might try applying a bit of ordinary bar soap in the channels and see if that helps. Shouldn't harm the case.
A drop a mild washing-up liquid allowed to seep down the channels overnight can work wonders too.

Grab the front of the glass with suction cups,pick up on the glass slightly to take the weight off the track and slide it open. I am assuming this is a sliding door?
