I love running personal and trivia photos on here as it relates to the hobby of railroads. I found the attached photo within the rear pages of my "baby book" that my Mother had given me many years ago for posterity and safe keeping. The book, that is!
When looking for something in a bedroom closet about 4 or 5 years ago, I looked in a wooden box and found that BOOK. Taking a nostalgic look-see in the book for a few minutes, a small Kodak 127 print fell out. That photo is what you see in the attachment. My first immediate reaction, "I cried" !! I can get pretty emotional! A flood of memories hit me all at once ! The location is the Golden Gate Live Steamers--new track under construction around late 1948--Redwood Regional Park--Oakland, CA. The older guy with me is my Grandfather, Vic Shattock who I miss terribly, even today ! We are seen among the "steaming bays". Note the little Trains that belonged to ME that I had on display! Do you now see why my emotions kicked in ?
Cheers.
