The weather has improved so I nipped round with the camera over the new extension.
Enjoy.
Roy.
Below is a rear cab view over the extension.

WOW! That is awesome! Beutiful Europpien layout! Thanks for posting.
What a wonderful and delightful layout, Roy. The details are fantastic, the track plan is massive, and those passenger trains look smashing making their way around the layout (both indoors and on the new outdoor expansion).
Not an expert when it comes to British/European-type railroads, but from what I can see, you have quite the roster of steam locomotives at your disposal.
Keep up the great work, and I look forward to more videos!
outstanding!
Fantastic layout and a very nicely done video. European trains have impressive colors and locomotive streamlining. I am surprised about how common the Belpaire firebox was in Europe. Not so in the USA.
Wonderful layout! I enjoyed both videos. I was trying to determine what kind of doors you use to keep critters out of the interior. Where I live, squirrels, chipmunks and raccoons would be a problem.
Roy, great layout and videos. I have a couple of questions.
What did you use for the outside road and support?
Do you have any problems with the weather affecting the wiring connections?
I live in a very humid area and am looking for ideas on extending my layout outside.
Beautiful layout. I only have time for the first video right now. I love the outdoors aspect - How do you keep woodland creatures and insect out of the tunnels?
You have an impressive and beautiful layout. I lived in London as a teenager in the late 1950s. I recall seeing some of the trains that you were running. The track level video scenes look just like the real trains.
I keep saying that people should consider taking O gauge outside if they don't have space inside. I think that your layout says it can be done.
I am looking forward to seeing more videos.

Hi There,
Thank you all for the very nice comments.

When I first started this railway I decided on no windows for reasons of spiders and other flying insects. In the pitch dark with electronic anti deterrent devices for spiders mice and rats etc I do not have a problem. Another reason for no windows was the risk of the sun fading the finish on the tinplate. Cats used to be a problem but again an electronic device keeps them at bay.
Mike,
The railway is supported on 3x3 inch legs set in the ground with met posts.
which in turn support 4x1 inch framework covered in 3/4 inch boarding which is covered in roofing felt. This is applied by a heat gun.
The track is ready to run flat bottom nickel silver by Peco Devon UK.
Outside all the rail joints must be bonded. Depending on the flux and solder used corrosion is not too much of a problem.
As a matter of interest this railway needs in excess of 100 amps stabilised at between 12 and 20 volts to operate 30 trains automatically controlled simultaneously.
Roy..
That is a special layout. It is great to see the passenger trains stretch out and roll along the long straight sections. It gives the impression that they really have someplace to go.
Fantastic trains and very inspiring layout. Thanks for posting
Always a fun watch!!!!!
I too love to see passenger trains running at speed.
I bought a case of Gargraves SS track planning an outdoor section......not sure I'll ever get that far.
Very nice work on your part.
Thanks for sharing!
Love that video, and the outdoor work is great. Thanks for the technique on the outdoor build.
