Drooping Couplers

Do you have a picture of the bottom of the truck?  Are these standard looking couplers with the T-bar spring and C-clip?  I know some older Williams stuff had some odd looking couplers.

Here are a couple. There is a rivet there that I think might be the culprit but it's difficult to get to. I tried to take a light hammer and a punch to it but it's tough to get any kind of leverage or force onto it because it's mostly underneath the front wheel axle housing. Also, I don't want to break it completely. (I'm pretty good at breaking things I'm trying to fix.)

Looks to me like you should remove the truck from the car and see what's going on. With the truck off the car you can probably tighten the rivet or replace it with a small bolt and aircraft nut.

That's what I was afraid we'd see.  Those are the early couplers before they went with the standard ones.  I agree with Matt, you need to take a truck off to see what can be done.

I recently did that repair on a passenger car. I was planning on doing a replacement but was pleased to find out it was just a loose screw. All good after I tightened it.

I don't have any Williams cars anymore to look at, so I'm hazy on how that coupler is attached.

Success! I took the truck off and it turns out that while the rivet is a bit loose it's attached to a thin tongue-like flange that is easily bent into the correct position with a little finger pressure. So I didn't need to remove or replace any rivets.

The only issue was when I was removing the little retaining ring that holds the truck into the platform of the car it shot off and it took me 10 minutes to find the thing.

One down, 5 more cars to go.

Additional Edit: Upon further review, it turns out the truck doesn't even need to be removed. Without the body of the car in the way the flange (with the truck attached) can be bent/adjusted into the correct position.
