I have the DZ-1010 crossing gates and they are great. I need another sensor (in addition to the two DZ-1011 Block Signal Detectors that come with the gates)  to trigger the gates, but no one has the DZ-1011’s in stock.

I have a dozen DZ-1050 3-Color Signals, which have a similar IR sensor as well as the white and yellow wires, and wondered if I could use one of them to trigger the DZ-1010. I was going to connect the white wire from the DZ-1050 to the white wire of one of the gates in parallel with the DZ-1011 white wire, but I don’t want to run the risk of damaging any of them.

Has anyone used a DZ-1050 to trigger the DZ-1010? And if yes, how?

Thanks!

Alex

PS. I emailed Dennis at Z-Stuff, but thought I would ask here as well.

Hi Alex

The Z1011s are near impossible to obtain. If the offer from the  "other alex" doesn't work out, you may want to consider some of the IR/Control board offerings that have popped up on Ebay from WeHonest, a seller in China.

The instructions are a part of the Ebay listing. I've gotten a couple and they work fine - don't know their life expectancy though they are really cheap at the price. Vendor is fine, I think a number of guys have bought them as well.  They arrive quickly and well packed.

The IR unit can be placed under the track or in a make-shift item you put trackside.

Something to consider.

Alex, Ralph -

Alex, thank you for the offer, but I need what I have.

You see, Dennis emailed me last night to let me know that I can indeed use the DZ-1050's to trigger my DZ-1010 gates. I tested it just to make sure I knew how to do it, and it works great, so I am good to go.

The intersection in question has three tracks approaching it from the east, and just two from the west because there is a turnout next to the intersection. With the two DZ-1011's that were included with the DZ-1010 gates, I can handle two tracks, but it left one. Well, one of my DZ-1050's does it nicely.

Thank you as well, Ralph.

!

Alex
