I just purchased a 616 Flying Yankee motor with a rebuilt E unit. The E unit will normally cycle once or twice and then the E unit coil holds the plunger in the up position due to the voltage to the coil not turning off even when the direction button is released. I tried it on two different transformers and the same thing happens so it is not the direction button.
Any suggestions what I might look for.

It's more likely that the plunger isn't releasing because of dirt or oil.
That occurred to me but when the plunger stays in the up position, if I turn the transformer off, it immediately drops down.

Seems to be that a magnetic field is being energized?!!!
Probably, the is JUICE present due to a minimal amperage leak, which causes an electro-magnetic field between the plunger and its housing bracket, of which both are of ferrous metals.
Even, some non-ferrous metals can become magnetized.
