You have to call them to order because they aren’t doing stuff through their website

A case study of two very different businesses (with some reported family ties) leveraging the Internet at both ends of the spectrum:  Eastern Depot and Western Depot.  The difference is stunning -- yet puzzling at the same time.  One has minimal web presence; the other has one of the most sophisticated web stores with real-time inventory updates and an unbeatable search function.  Any bets as to which business will be around in a few years?

Actually the difference is not puzzling given that Eastern Depot has been deliberately winding down it's business. When I last saw them at York 18 months ago they had already announced plans to retire. They had quite a lot of stock still on hand but they are already in the end phase of their business so you can't really compare them with the west coast Depot.
