I have a massive layout in progress and working on a second level, was looking to out the elevated piers that the first level can go under. I know about bridgeboss (great stuff) but has anyone made these (scratch built). I'll need enough to cover a 21'x 15' layout

The MTH trestle system is designed for a pier every 10 inches, so to maintain a consistent grade you need to incorporate the 10-inch pier spacing.
Each pier has 3 parts, a base, a pier and a clip on top that accommodates Real Trax roadbed. The top clip is removable, and that should enable using other wider track brands. If you keep the top clips, you could cut the upstanding ends off of them to get a flat surface for other brands of track. You could attach the track to the modified clips with a flexible adhesive like silicone.
