I recently came across an amazing photo in Central Headlight, the magazine of the New York Central System Historical Society. It shows the 1947 iteration of one of the Central's premier trains, the Empire State Express. The original 1941 Budd cars, especially designed for this train, were being pulled by E7 #4004, one of the original "Beauty Queens" of 1945, still in its fabulous "reverse" paint livery (light gray body with dark gray lightning stripe). The two attached videos represent my attempt to recreate this beautiful train, using Lionel and K-Line equipment.
