The local historic museum asked my advice on this bell, if it was a locomotive bell, or what. I was given these pictures, so have not actually examined this personally. Owner apparently has no history of bell and wants to dispose of this bright shiny object!
At first glance it would seem to look like a engine bell. But Googling steam engine bells does not show anything resembling the above photos. Any Google pictures show the engine bells within the upright (bell support), while these bell yoke (part holding bell proper) shafts appears to be though bearings that would mount to wood or steel cross members as shown in school bell pictures. Thus almost appears to be a school house bell rather than a steam engine bell.
Any "bell-ologists" expert want to "chime" in please, so I can report back on what this is and if worth the trouble of moving it.
