I had to reset my ERR 4.1 command diesel board on my Weaver U25B. The directional light's stopped working and the engine would run wild suddenly I had to cut power to the track to stop it. It did this three or four times. Since I reset it everything works properly. I still have to wait to see if it runs wild again. It doesn't do it all the time. When I run the Weaver I stand near the transformer just in case.

I also reset the ERR board on my Williams U33C because the directional lights quit working. Unfortunately, it didn't fix the problem so I connected them  straight to the roller contacts. It's not a issue for me. I don't care if they are directional or not. It was something to do and I like to tinker from time to time.

Wondering if you installed the ERR board or did you get it with the ERR board already installed? I ask because I just picked up a Weaver GP9 and want to add Cruise Commander and sound but I can not figure out how to remove the shell.

Do you have any suggestions on what is the best way to install the ERR board?

Thanks

RAY

Ray, a friend who is a Lionel tech installed them. Can you post a picture of the underside?

The directional lights are controlled by the R4LC, did you also include the AUX1-8 in the reset sequence to set the engine type?

No I did AUX1-6. That is what I found on the code chart in the Cruise Commander 4.1 instruction manual. It reset the lights on the Weaver, but when I reset the Williams, the lights came on, but they were dim. This Saturday I'm going to I Love Toy Trains-The Country Store to run trains and my Lionel tech friend will be there. He installed it so I'll have him look at. Everything else works fine.

The lights did come on when I reset the Williams, but they won't switch when I put it in reverse and they are dim. The Weaver works fine for now.

Using any of the diesel reset codes mentioned above should toggle the headlight and reverse light. Only if you use Aux1 4 which is for steam engines does the headlight stay on in reverse. Might be time to check the wiring.

The wiring is fine. I followed the instructions to the letter. I even triple checked it. Keep in mind it's just the Williams doing this, the Weaver is fine. I'm starting to thing it may be a circuit problem. Either way, I'm turning it over to my Lionel tech friend who I will see this Saturday. I have too much nerve damage to mess with a circuit board.
