Okay, so I searched for this topic and I couldn’t find an entry.  So I have a Lionel engine that I gutted and put brand new ERR cruise and Railsounds (connected by wired tether) and I’m just about done chasing gremlins and the last I tested it, upon initialization the bell sounds without a button press or command from cab2.   Chuffs still work as well as other commands.   If I remove the tether and leave the engine on the track the bell sounds, if I remove the engine the bell stops sounding.   I don’t think it’s the tether I think I have something grounded out on my locomotive but I can’t seem to isolate it.  I also have installed a chuff generator as well as super chuffer.  Everything worked like it was supposed to and now I’ve developed a constant ringing bell.  Any troubleshooting advice would be greatly appreciated.

regards,

Tony Sunday

What transformer are you using, and are you connecting through a Powermaster?

I’m using a z4000 and also through my wtiu (not for control just all my tracks go through wtiu).  It wasn’t doing it earlier.  I had a solder joint break to my chuff earlier (unrelated-I think) that I had opened it up to inspect and repair and when I put it back together it started doing this.

Can you ring the bell under command control?  If so, try it without the WTIU in the picture.

John,

No change by removing wtiu .  In command mode it responds to the whistle command but I cannot ring the bell or disable the bell.  If I disconnect the tether the bell persists while the locomotive is on the track.  If remove the locomotive from the track and apply power there is no bell.  If I disconnect the base 2 from the track it works just fine in conventional mode and the bell responds to the transformer as it should.
