It was announced today that FOA Schwarz, the famous Manhattan toy store, will be reopening in 2018 in the space currently occupied by the NBC Experience Store on 49th Street in 30 Rockefeller Center! Hopefully, they will once again carry Lionel Trains and have a display layout! Great news for next Christmas.

Great news!!!
FAO Schwartz was always a master at merchandising with their displays. The last time I remember visiting the Manhattan store was when Lionel made the JLC GG-1's and Allegheny. It was impressive to say the least when they had a dozen or more of those locomotives stacked in a display. Not to mention they were priced about $500 OVER MSRP. I guess somebody had to pay for the exhorbitant Manhattan rent.
I heard that news today, as well. It is very welcome news. I believe the new location at 30 Rock. Plaza is supposed to have 19,000sqft.
Here are a couple shots of Lionel's final Christmastime layout at the big, beautiful, swank store
at 767 5th Avenue, near Central Park.....
When this layout made its first renewed appearance at the store, they Sold Out of every train item by the close of business on Thanksgiving Day. Lionel had to rush to replenish the inventory.

Beautiful photos Frank. Yes 19,000 sq. ft. is correct. I believe the NBC Experience Store has 2 floors. This is a big addition to the whole Rockefeller Center Christmas experience!

Do you mean to say that they are in there, now, for the Christmas season?

Forget Lionel at FAO Schwarz. The display is in NC, and FAO doesn't want to be bothered. Just as Macy's in NYC can't be bothered to sell Lionel trains, in spite of selling out for 3 years straight. Both places have buyers who went to school for this, and haven't a clue.
FAO is no longer part of Toys R Us. Hope for the future?

When a company is not bothered by what the customers want, then the customers will not bother to buy from the company.
