Hello Fellow Railroaders,

I would like to know if there is a list of postwar Lionel and American Flyer Accessories that would be compatible with Fastrack? The reason I'm asking this question is because I hate to buy at a train store or at a train show or even e-bay a postwar Lionel, American Flyer Accessories just to find out that it doesn't work with Fastrack.

I see a lot of You-Tube Videos which shows some of them, but not all of them. Can someone please help me with this situation I would appreciate it very much.

Sincerely

Allan

Allan,

Most will work. There is an accessory activator track that has removable roadbed when snugging the accessory closer to rails is required. One can also modify the road for a fine tuning of fitment. There are several ways to power and trigger them. There are FasTrack sections for an isolated rail or one can made.

The most common AF accessory that I see used with FasTrack is the Forklift loader.

I have never seen a list. Lionel also reproduced a lot of the accessories with modern board controls and quiet DC motors.

I would think as long as you don't pay too much, you would be able sell one that didn't fit where you wanted it and recover your money.

Any places where you do encounter issues can be remedied with a fastrack to traditional o and the you transition back to fastrack

Basically you want to look for accessories that have a unique track activator to them....

you would need to do this for the following accessories:

barrel loader

stockyard

Cattle station

wabash and giraffe cars (mods have been done with fastrack)

i have also found that hobo cars with a centra magnet don't work well on fastrack and only work well on traditional o operating sections

Any other accessories that require operating track should be fine   The sides on the fastrack operating section come off.   Be advised though that the fastrack operating sections aren't that good in my opinion and the older ones work better   At least that is my experience
