Cabeese? LOL. I know that isn't a real word, but doesn't it sound like it should be the plural of caboose, like the plural of goose is geese?

Anyway, yesterday I bought 3 brand new cabooses at my LHS that I'm very excited about. They consist of a Lionel Erie, Williams Penn Central and MTH NY Central. All 3 look great, and are relatively small, which I prefer.

To my surprise, the Lionel Erie caboose is a smoking caboose. This was a surprise because I asked the LHS owner whether he had a smoking caboose, and he said he didn't.

I will photograph these cabooses later and post the photos on this thread. In the meantime, I will start us off with this photo of an MTH New Haven caboose that I purchased at the October 2022 York show:

Isn't  it gorgeous like most New Haven trains? It also has excellent detail.

Would love to see your favorite cabeese (LOL). All scales and eras are welcome. Arnold

I have only a few cabooses. But, I guess my favorite was this CA-4, until the Tomar marker lights went out on it, just after a year they were installed by a nearby "Authorized Lionel Service Station" technician. Needlesss to say, I don't use him anymore. So, this caboose has gone from the layout to a display shelf.

So, a Lionel CA-1 woodside with WORKING marker lights has taken its place on the layout. Although, not a perfect match for my Union Pacific GP7 and GP9 like the CA-4 was, at least it works.

My one and only smoking caboose, this Lionel Erie:

As you can see  it has 2 little guys in it and great detail and appearance IMO.

It's also the perfect caboose to run with my LC+ Erie Camelback as shown in the short video below:

I've read prior threads about the difficulties someone us have had with smoking cabeese, so my plan is to turn on the smoke feature sparingly, if at all. Arnold

We had worked well into the night loading equipment that was going to Railfair 91 on flat cars that were provided by CSX.  We made the connection even though we had to do a little finish work in Sacramento.

As a gift for our  work,  the three of us received Sunset wagon top cabooses in O scale.  I 3 railed mine with Lionel trucks and it has logged thousands of miles running on floor layouts since.

Here's a favorite of mine. I love the Pennsylvania N5c cabin cars. These postwar 6417 versions are probably the nicest of the different N5c versions that Lionel made.

In particular it's lighted and instead of a dour digit number it has a more realistic six digit one. These are not scale, but look nice behind trains with smaller early 20th century and late 19th century freight cars.

The first two photos show Williams brass models brass models of a NYC Caboose and a PRR cabin car. Both were weathered by Harry Hieke.

The following photo is of a Great Northeastern Railway (GNR) caboose that was painted and decaled by me and weathered by Pat Whitehead, aka Trumptrain on the OGR Forum. The basic caboose is a plastic, Kusan Kannon Ball toy to which I added ladders and marker lanterns. The photo was taken by Pat on his Free State Junction Railroad layout in the Butler Junction section of Patsburg, before its transfer back to the GNR.

I am very partial to the N6b cabin car that was developed to run on the Panhandle.  The so-called Mae West cupula was designed to cope with the close tunnel clearances on that line.

I like this particular kitbash I did awhile ago - a Weirton Steel caboose.

George, I really like the way you weathered this caboose. IMO, less is more when it comes to weathering. Arnold

Randy, the weathering of these "cabeese" is masterful too.
