Feedback on a first layout

I'm designing my first real layout and I'd like to hear any advice from those of you who have done this before. It's Atlas O 3-rail track. The L shape it's in is taking up all of the available space - about 15' wide by 6' and 10' deep.

My goals for the layout were to have a "dual" main line so that the trains can run without much intervention at times (such as when the kids are at the throttle), but I also want to have some spurs and a turnaround to keep things interesting for me. Minimum curve is 0-54.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great. Thanks!

I like the reverse curve by the Access Hatch on the right. Trains can change direction quickly and easily. Makes a layout more interestng.

Like the positions of access hatches, but are the going to be big enough?

I am somewhat concerned about the size of the hatches too. They are about 24" by 14". For now I'm going to build the outer loop and the reverse curve, but leave off the inner spurs. Then figure out what size hatch is going to be needed, and fill in the spurs once that is determined.

Like the design and the integrated reverse loop. Hatches look a bit small. Also, swap the crossovers -- they generate a reverse-curve problem. You might also want to put another one in the upper right (outside to inside.) This will allow run-around moves to service the industries.
