Wouldn't it worth a drive there to see BOTH an E3 AND an E5?
It absolutely would be worth it...
I can envision an E5 making the trip - along with other IRM stablemates.
It can stop at MI on the way back!
Now - moving to the truly unbelievable:
How about an E5, an E3 and... an EA?!?!
That, I would truly not believe.
But then again, it's more likely then a C&O streamlined Hudson showing up!
Hmm what about the SP 6051?....Now that would be a great addition as well.

And to have her do a run by like this would be even better!
Most definitely!! Nice video!
Surprised they'd let her run that fast without some cars for extra braking, or mebby good looks !

Not a problem, it had dynamic brake, so slowing down RAPIDLY without a train is not a big deal.
There's a certain E5 from Illinois that has just been added to the list (scroll to the bottom for info)
Update on the New York Central 4068 & 4080 E-8's!
There is big set-back, the FRA changed the rules upgrading standards for excursion equipment to match small freight line rules, "Being built with two prime movers, they both have to be running." One power plant in each loco is not working and will need a lot of work. The Medina RR Museum intends to appeal and ask for a waiver on this rule.
I don't know if CSRM has fixed their SP E8 but I was told it had only one working prime mover in it. UP is also not letting museum equipment move on their rails at the moment, Omaha legal dept, unless there has been a real recent change. Sadly CSRM SP6051 and WP913 are land locked for the time being as is any F unit from WPRM in Portola CA.

Could it be this one overtaking the stack train at 80 mph?
The BNSF mainline speed limit for passenger is 79MPH, per FRA regulations. Thus, the 9911 and her train never exceeded 79MPH. Notice how that electric speedometer bounces around so much.
Is Doyle McCormack's NKP 190 (former ATSF 62-L, DH 18, NdM ?) ALco PA1 ready for a cross country trip from Portland, OR? A PA1, E3 and 611 would be enough to get in me in the car and drive to Spencer.

I just read on FaceBook that Doyle and the PA-1 will be attending!
Stuart
Baltimore is closer then both Oregon and Illinois - what's the deal?
CSX even has a track right to the museum - or is that the "deal" breaker?
/Mitch
Wonder if any Amtrak sloped nose trains will attend? Or a GG1?

Since Trains Magazine is a major sponsor of this whole event, maybe they didn't get a "positive response" from the B&O museum, nor CSXT?
From an earlier thread, it appears my prognosticating is looking pretty good:
https://ogrforum.com/t...streamliners-in-2014
My wishlist (knowing many of these currently aren't operable and would need to be rolled in as static displays):
The PA being worked on by Doyle McCormack (love that NKP Bluebird paint!)
The pair of PAs in Mexico
FTs that are scattered to the the winds in the U.S. and Mexico; an A-B-B-A set would be splendid
The D&H Sharks in Michigan
The PRR E-7 in Strasburg
FAs - several are out there, many need fresh paint
The Burlington E-5 and matching Zephyr cars
The trio of chicken wire former BAR F-3s
BL-2 (sorta streamlined - I vote yes for several of these beasts to be invited) - I'm partial to the Monon BL-2 at the Kentucky Railway Museum
The Indiana Transportation Museum Monon painted F units and string of streamlined former SF coaches
FL-9 units in that snazzy NH paint scheme
Aerotrain, anybody?
South Shore 802 and 803 (Little Joes for the non-South Shore types)
PRR GG-1; that beauty is probably the illustration for the word streamlined in the encyclopedia
Great news about the 190. Amazing! All the work that has gone into so beautifully restoring it has really paid off.
Here are few videos explaining how the E-8 operates.
What a bunch of "Hooey" that was!

Doyle should bring that big orange streamliner he has, too.

Technically, Doyle doesn't "have", nor does he "own", that "big orange streamliner". Besides, SP 4449 is currently out of service getter her FRA mandated 15 year inspection.
190 is the ultimate kitbash to get that streamlined ALCO going! Great job! (Is not the prime mover from a M420?)

Doyle purchased a "wrecked" ALCO from Canada, that had been overhauled and subsequently derailed/rolled over. Thus, the entire engine/generator, electrical cabinet, plus key internal components, are from that Canadian ALCO (M420?).
Like I said having the Alco PA at this event will be EPIC!!
I just read on FaceBook that Doyle and the PA-1 will be attending!

Truth be told, it really doesn't matter whether Doyle attends or not, since the real Star of The Show will be NKP 190!
That "report" was definitely in error.
Glad to see these Diesel classics getting their rightful due...even in the midst of all this Big Boy mania. Time to remember the incredible accomplishments of people like Dr. Dick Dilworth and those of his generation ....in a context beyond that of a bunch of RR villains. And maybe if a few more of us wake up, we can avoid the fate of Espee 4450, and N&W / VGN 173 !

Well said Sean...I couldn't agree more.
Looks like Erie 833 makes the 25th and final guest:

I'm confused. Please explain the "villains" comment.
I can't find any of my images of D&H 18, but here's a picture I took of her sister.

Villains....because they were responsible for the tools that did in everyone's beloved steam power. OTOH, remember back in the day, the vast majority of the population was glad to see steam going away...and not just RR travelers either. Hard for us to believe today, but there were some people in Virginia, back in the '50s, who thought S. T. Saunders was the good guy !
I plan on being there on June 1st.. Bought my ticket on line
It's a once in a lifetime opportunity. New Haven and Soo units were just added.
I won't get to make the show. I went to our museum and took some pics. Here's where the E8s are sitting outside the Medina, NY RR museum.

And the 190 was one of the 4 ALCO PA's which powered an Amtrak train. In the 1970's, before the turbos came, Amtrak, the State of New York and the D&H used D&H passenger equipment on a NYG-Montreal train. Between Albany and Montreal, the PA's were power! (The other 3 were the ones D&H bought from ATSF.)

The D&H purchased all 4 PA units from the Santa Fe.

Plus an ex-New Haven PA from GE used for parts.

From another site, here's a link to pictures and information provided by Railroad Museum of New England member Mr. Howard Pincus pertaining to FL9 2019, the New Haven locomotive scheduled to appear at the Spencer event. How very nice it looks, right down to the authentic Hancock air whistle:

It would have been nice to have an FT show up, and the Sharks in Michigan would have been an excellent addition as well. All in all, this is something I'd love to attend...
