How do I join TCA and register for York?

You can just show up at York and join and register at the admissions desk.
Register Online after you receive your TCA number

Certainly you can join and register for the show in person. But why spend time waiting in line, and filling out forms?
You can join via US Mail. Here is a link.
What happen to the days when you needed 2 TCA members to refer you and sign the application with their names and TCA numbers on it did they do away with that process if so why even join the TCA if anyone off the street can just pay $20.00 at the door. to get in guess the membership numbers have been slowly declining over the last 17 years since I joined
There is no 2 signature rule any more. You may get to go once as a non member, but just once.

You'd have to pay $50 to join and $20 to get in, unless you came as a guest and then you can only go one time. The 2 signature rule has been gone for a while now, this isn't a new development.

The "country-club" membership procedure ended. When you think about it, did the "character issue" of membership really mean anything? When I joined, a fellow who was a TCA member was the person who induced me to do so. He was willing to sign to vouch for me, even though we had just a passing acquaintance. He also said he would locate another member (who I never even met) to execute the other signature. I just gave him a check and that was it. I got my membership card and saw my name in the publication three times (whatever that was for). I guess it's like a marriage ceremony: "If anyone has any objections, let them speak now or forever hold their peace."

When they realised that the 2 signatures let me in, they said "Why bother?"

Too funny Joe...too funny!

It's dead and buried, lets never speak of it again!
When you become a member you are on a three month probation, which is why you are listed in the National Headquarters News three times. If during the probation period, anyone who wants to "speak now" about that member's character or bad dealings with other TCA members during the probation, they will be ejected.
Of course, any member at any time can be ejected if conducting nefarious dealings with other members. The info is all in the Headquarter News and the TCA website.

Does anyone actually go through all the names published in each issue; and, if so, how would they recognize any name if there has never been any dealings with that person? After all, most of those who join the TCA the first time probably have no track record upon which to base any nefarious dealings or bad character. But I suppose if they want to publish names, so what?
My 2-signature story which -- btw -- had completely forgotten about until reading this thread. Guess it can be put in the "Now It Can Be Told" category.
I called the TCA office to ask a few questions about joining and the nice lady said, "...oh, don't worry, I'll fax a membership app with signatures already affixed." Sure enough got a form with a couple of barely legible names/sigs. And no idea who they belonged to.

I can't answer for everyone, but I glance at them just to see if there's anyone I know or is local. I've never had a problem with a TCA member, but maybe someone out there has, and they'd be the ones looking to report an issue. Especially if they know that person has joined. It's all a personal thing I imagine.
You can go one time as the guest of a member (the member has to register/sign you in), but otherwise you have to be a current TCA memeber to go. You can join the TCA at the meet itself and go right in, but you will save $7-$8 if you join sooner and pre-register.
