I have a fixed 1 channel that blew the internal 20 amp fuse and now will not power the track after replacing fuse. I have installed a new fuse and when the power is applied to fixed one channel it will throw the breaker on the transformer. I can power up the TIU using a z500 thru the auxiliary power port and it will light up but no power thru fixed one channel. I think the channel is blown and was wondering if this issue can be fixed? My TIU is a 13b model. I can power my track by just plugging in my transformer thru a lock on and it does not throw the breaker so I am pretty convinced its in the TIU.

Should I send my TIU in to have MTH repair it or is it cheaper in the long run just to replace it. I am still not absolutly sure that it can be repair, can anyone steer me in the right direction.
Yes. Someone will have to look at it.
First off, a likely suspect is the TVS diode on the channel, next would be the FET's that control the voltage. Both are fairly easily replaced components, so it's certainly worth fixing and not buying something new for this failure.
Since this is a fixed channel, no FETs involved. Most likely the TVS. Much cheaper to repair. I can do this. G
OOPS, I was thinking variable, obviously the TVS is now the prime suspect! So, that's a very easy fix.
Thanks for the response guys. To GGG how to I go about sending you my TIU and how do I pay. Scott.
You can e-mail me, by e-mail is in my profile. G
GGG I sent you an email to find out details about repairing my TIU. I hope you get it . When I hit send it seemed like it lagged to send to you. Let me know if you got it. Thanks
