Sooo, I have an old KW and I replaced the rectifier and I replaced the power cord.  the transformer has been working fine both sides both controls both whistles and both train reversal buttons work  The constant voltage posts also work correctly.

HOWEVER!!!!!!

as I was making the switch to replace my old American Flyer transformer I knocked it off the TV tray with my frekin foot!! and everything still works except one throttle will not increase the speed is there any specific reason? looking at it, it appears that all wires are still intact nothing seems to be out of place but is there one place I should be looking?

Thanks Larry,

I had just replaced the rollers too, with the rectifier and those are fine. I even took the throttle handles, and roller arms off the shaft to see if something got jammed up when it fell.  nothin.  It looks fine to the eye. Could the circuit breaker be "on" to that controller somehow?

You're right Don about the TV tray! I swear, it was just for a few minutes to get the feel of how it would work before taking the old one out....

I fixed it!!!!

Fixed it!!!

Ya baby!!

From different replies in different groups it seems like it was as you guys say- a bad wire or post...but it wasn't. but so close!!

The copper contact from the reverse direction button was not making contact.   (see video)   So that contact- making contact keeps the voltage full. Pressing the button and separating the two copper contacts drops the voltage to zero.  When the transformer fell, it fell right on the direction button!!!!! It jammed so hard the contact was bent away yet very close and as you know in a spot that is very hard to see!!! I starred at that thing for days hoping something would just present itself!!! Thank god there's twp buttons to compare.

Works good as new!!

Thank you all for your suggestions and help!!
