This is a good Question, however, all Vision Line Locomotives and Feature Rich Cars, are Under a TWO Year Warranty....They pay the Shipping Both Ways, and keep all parts that they Think might become a Problem...If You have an Engine, made after 1995, Lionel will fix it, although it will cost a few bucks.  There are many hobby shops that can fix the older, Postwar, PreWar, engines and accessories...Mike Reagan, although having been Promoted by Lionel to a Higher Form of Authority, is still the best person Lionel ever Hired to take Great Care of our Concerns...  Now, buy 2 VISION LINE BIG BOYS,ONE TO RUN, ONE TO SELL DO TO LACK OF AVAILABILITY... Lets Run Trains.

I understand wanting instant Repair or Engine Swapping Exchange, However, Lionel has this situation under control. There are Few Hobby Shops that took the Time and Money to be Trained to Repair these Feature Rich Engines...that being said, I purchased the Vision Centepedes, through my Local Hobby Shop, and they would not run, the windows were out, So Lionel Paid the shipping back. When they came back, the windows were out, but the engines worked...Then I called Lionel and asked if I could Re-Pack the engines in different cartons and guess what?, Lionel Offered My Money Back...They sent a check even including the Tax...Wow...This is the Only Vision that I do not have.   I want one of the #4014 BIG BOYS....Lionel will Take care of Us...Thanks..

Buy one, it is going to be an epic engine.  If I had the money, I'd be buying two of them.  One to run and one to keep.

I am speculating a lot of the mechanical parts are interchangeable with current product line, so the parts are there.  Again, I don't know this as fact, but it would make sense.

I ordered traction tires for my Vision Line Challenger a few weeks ago from Lionel. They didn't have the 'exact' ones but the lady had ones that were interchangeable. I put them on and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference if you didn't know.

Don't let the parts concern scare you away.

Enjoy.

When I received my Vision Line UP Centipedes I opened them up and took out the main unit. The first thing that I noticed was how the battery hatches fit into the top opening of the cab. To me it fits loosely into the top of the cab and that it had caused 2 chips in the paint in the top of cab of the engine. I had also noticed that the engineer in the cab was laying down on the job.

I talked to Mike about this at the York meet since I had received the set not long before York. He told me to send to the service center to have the engineer fixed but they could not do anything about the chips of paint missing.

Before sending it off after I got the RA for it, I decided and wrote to them that if the cab could not be fixed that I did not want the set since the chips of paint were to me very noticeable.

In a very short time I received them back and the main cab had been replaced with a new one. And they also returned it back to me with both of the battery hatches placed into small individual bags and not in the cabs as they were first sent out. And to say the least I was very happy in the end.

When the original scale Pere Marquette 1225 was introduced, a fiend and I both ordered this engine from the same dealer. I picked mine up within a day or two from when they arrived. If I remember correctly, the dealer ordered six which were all spoken for. My friend went to pick his up a few days later. The engine was inspected by the dealer at the time my friend got to the train shop, and when opening the box, it was noticed that the tender's body was significantly damaged. My friend went home that day without his engine.

Lionel instructed the dealer to return the engine (the dealer purchased direct from Lionel). Lionel had no replacements for the tender and my friend went away without this engine.

Will Lionel stock extra body parts for this type of damage to a Vision Line BB?
