I read a post of Rusty's that said the Flyonel Y-3's also had mounting plates for kadee's.  I recently bought one NIB, and it has no holes in the tender for a plate nor for kadee's themselves.  Nor did it come with a plate.

It did come with a dummy coupler that is not as big as a Flyer claw coupler but too big for interfacing with a kadee 802.  Presumably it can be truck mounted somehow if one removes the electrocoupler, but nothing regarding this dummy nor a mounting plate for a kadee is mentioned in the manual as it is with an SD70Ace or an ES44.

Does anyone know if they added the kadee mounting option to perhaps later production but not with the first run?

Thanks Rusty. Glad to know I didn't miss out on a version that had such.

Fred Rouse fabricated a box to which he mounted the couplers. I have seen pictures posted somewhere showing details of one of his conversions.  I don't have the skill to make something as nice looking as he did, so I'll keep running the Y3 with a heavyweight baggage car that has Flyer claw on one end, scale on the other.
