Paint the background behind it black, and frame it with a tunnel portal, and it might look even better.

Good Idea Doug, I was thinking maybe painting the trailing passenger cars behind it as though going through a curve, I'm not that artistic though. 

Painting trailing passenger cars on a curve would also be a great effect. I'm sure that there are those on here that could pull it off very well, but I'm not one of them.

 

 For me just doing a good job finishing the bottom of the portal would be enough of a challenge.

They do nice work!  I'd be up for the Burlington Zephyr if I can find a place for it.

I spoke to the gentleman at the Springfield Show who designs and sells these  items. Nice guy.

 

I thought they looked great and I hope to purchase one in the future. Hey Ben - he said (after I asked) that they were going to offer a Erie Lackawanna model

I am going to get one for my 15 month old daughter's room. If it were strictly for me I would get one of the F units, but since it's partly for me and partly for her then I think the color and lights on the Santa Fe model are tough to beat. She will love making me turn the lights on and off over and over... as will I. Thanks for sharing!!!

Stoddarts has outstanding stuff. I have one of their shadow boxes, no "full size" pieces but I'd like to get a few. They are very good people as well. They are usually in the center of the Orange Hall at York. 

Good looking wall decoration. I really like the Sante Fe and NYC F units.

I need to buy one of those for my grandson!

Can the lights be powered by a plug or are they battery only?

 

I really want the 1225 for my trainroom.

The mfrs were at York a few Yorks ago and blowing out their stock because they told us they had signed a contract with a catalog order company for exclusive rights.  Loco-Dan and I picked up the 765 Berkshire shadow box for $25 bucks.

Alison, any thoughts to making the MARS lights rotate or alternate flash?  That would be highly cool.

I have the B&O steam engine. It's a beautiful piece. I think you need to make the Blue Comet and a Camelback. 

Ken: We've been asked about the Mars light bY multiple people.  It would be neat, but it would push the cost of our product beyond what people would realistically pay.  We did have a customer who wanted to put a flasher circuit in our Nickel  Plate 759 model.  We shipped him one with the back left off so he could make the modifications to the LED circuit.  We would do something similar if someone wanted to motorize the Mars light on their art.

 

Joe: The Blue Comet and a camelback are on our list of locomotives to do.  We"ll have at least one of the two at Springfield next year.
